Qualche giorno dopo, una mail mi avverte che il nostro affare è in stato più che avanzato: addirittura il mittente mi ha già confezionato un pacco con i 400kg di polvere d'oro e i 30kg di lingotti e mi suggerisce di contattare la compagnia Tonnel Ghana Limited, incaricata del trasporto, ed in particolare tale Kwame Appiah. Mi chiede inoltre il numero di telefono (ovviamente) per contattarmi in caso di varie ed eventuali.

In seguito Williams mi svela il ruolo di Kwame Appiah, che è, letteralmente, un agente che lavora sotto un cargo inglese e che ha quindi i contatti per mandare la merce senza ritardi o storie. Effettivamente la dogana potrebbe essere un problema, così come il ritirare la merce all'ufficio postale in Piazza Cordusio.Ovviamente ribadisce la solita fuffa sulla fiducia, la transazione sicura e assolutamente legale, ecc.ecc. Le scritte tutte in maiuscolo mi iniziano ad irritare, prima o poi glielo farò presente.

Gli dico di averli già contattati (non è ovviamente vero) e mi irrito con Williams dicendogli che ho una certa urgenza di ricevere il materiale, altrimenti sarò costretto a rivolgermi altrove. Come se gli avessi chiesto chissà cosa. Inoltre ancora non mi è dato sapere  il prezzo totale della transazione, il che sinceramente mi sembra INACCETTABILE, oltre che un segno di scarsa professionalità

Questa volta Williams sembra aver capito e mi rivela il prezzo delle singole componenti (immagino che fare un'addizione sia troppo complicato), inventandosi un 10% per le spese di spedizione (ma non mi aveva detto all'inizio che la spedizione era gratuita??).

A questo punto faccio un rapido calcolo e tiro fuori il costo complessivo: 62,700$. Negozio un piccolo sconto e gli chiedo se a questa cifra si può sottrarre perlomeno un importo pari a logaritmo di 0 (ovvero a meno infinito). Chiedo infine che modalità di pagamento preferisce, se Western Union, Moneygram o affini.

Mi dice che la sua compagnia, la West Africa Gold Mining, ha ricevuto la mia offerta per l'acquisto di polvere d'oro e ne approfitta per elencarmi il loro listino prezzi:

L'offerta mi sembra buona: ad occhio il prezzo al chilo mi sembra vantaggioso, anche a fronte dei risultati delle analisi di mercato sui competitor, analisi che non ho mai fatto: devo quindi fidarmi.

L'unica cosa che chiedono è che il compratore sia pronto, di buon cuore (???) e non un traditore.

Dopo aver riflettuto un momento ed aver concluso che si, sono abbastanza pronto, sicuramente di buon cuore e non di certo un traditore, ho deciso di rispondere: un affare è sempre un affare e un po' di lingotti d'oro possono sempre servire nelle commissioni di tutti i giorni. Con la polvere potrei inoltre fabbricare una dentiera sbrilluccicosa come fanno i papponi rapper americani.

Poiché il signor Williams sostiene di aver già ricevuto una mia offerta (che non ricordo d'aver fatto tra l'altro), chiedo di aggiungere 400kg di polvere d'oro e 30kg di lingotti all'ordine corrente, e di aggiornarmi sul prezzo finale della nostra transazione, incluse le spedizioni (anche se nella mail è scritto chiaro e tondo che sono a loro carico... un controllo in più non fa mai male):

Sono sinceramente fiducioso e spero di poter giungere presto ad un accordo con il signor Williams, che mi sembra una brava persona anche se scrive un po' a cazzo e soprattutto tutto in maiuscolo.
